X reacts as Arsenal sneak past Porto with penalty shoot-out victory

Arsenal squeezed into the Champions League last eight on Tuesday evening as they beat Porto in a penalty shoot-out at the Emirates Stadium. Leandro Trossard got Arsenal back into the tie with his well-executed finish four minutes before half-time, but Arsenal couldn't muster a second across 120 minutes as the match headed to penalties. Arsenal netted all four of their spot kicks with little fuss, but it was David Raya who achieved hero status following two impressive saves in the shoot-out. Here is how X users reacted to the thrilling affair. Having lost 1-0 to Porto at the Estadio do Dragao without a shot on target, Arsenal knew they would have to improve significantly for the return leg in north London. The Gunners did enjoy some promising moments in the early stages at the Emirates, but they found it difficult to break through what was a stubborn Porto backline. That Porto defence looks tight It will be a long night for Arsenal if they manage to get a goal — Bruce szn (@cfc_bru...

Toyota's David Wilson: Bell's Phoenix victory "a momentous win"

Image
Under the current playoff format, a driver needs to either win or run very well at Phoenix, which also requires leading laps. In the last two years – spanning four races – that’s been a scarcity for Toyota. While Chevrolet drivers won both Phoenix races last year and Ford accomplished the same feat in 2022, Toyota drivers totaled just 15 laps led. Then came Sunday, when not only did Toyota pick up the win with a strong performance from Bell and his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team, but Toyota drivers collectively led all but 14 of the 312 laps in the race. First win for the XSE It was a monumental shift in performance, which first became evident in practice on Friday and held true in qualifying with an all-Toyota front row. “For Toyota, this was a momentous win,” said Toyota Racing Development president David Wilson. “This was the first win with our new Camry body. I was clear to say at the beginning of the year that we have struggled here recently. “T...

Once upon a time, in a bustling city, there was a stray dog named Max. Max had been roaming the streets for as long as he could remember, scavenging for food and seeking shelter wherever he could find it. But as the days grew colder and the nights more unforgiving, Max knew he needed a place to call home. One day, while wandering through the neighborhood, Max stumbled upon a small park where families played and laughter echoed through the air. As he watched from the sidelines, longing for companionship, he caught the eye of a kind-hearted woman named Emily. Emily had always been an animal lover, and when she saw the look of loneliness in Max’s eyes, she knew she had to help him. Emily approached Max cautiously, offering him a piece of her sandwich. At first, Max was hesitant, but hunger eventually overcame his fear, and he cautiously accepted the offering. From that moment on, Emily became Max’s guardian angel, providing him with food, water, and love. ...

How World Leaders Have Reacted to the Deaths of People In Gaza Waiting For an Aid Convoy

W orld leaders are putting pressure on Israel to allow in more humanitarian aid to Gaza, with some turning to their own efforts to do so, after at least 110 Palestinians were killed and hundreds more injured trying to get aid this week, according to the Hamas-run Health ministry.   Witnesses said Israeli troops fired on the crowd as people rushed to take food aid off trucks in Gaza City on Thursday, the Associated Press reported. This was echoed by Hamas on its Telegram channel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said "thousands of Gazans" had "descended upon the trucks" with some "violently pushing and even trampling other Gazans to death, looting the humanitarian supplies" resulting in "dozens of Gazans killed and injured." The IDF said its troops fired warning shots in a bid to disperse the crowds.  A doctor at a nearby hospital told the AP that more than 80% of the injured victims he treated were struck by gunfire.
