Erik ten Hag reveals two Man Utd injury boosts but one concern for Everton game

Image
Andre Onana and Luke Shaw are fit and available for Manchester United's trip to Everton on Sunday but doubts remain over Rasmus Hojlund. 27-year-old Onana picked up an injury while away on international duty with Cameroon, raising concerns that he may not be ready for United's visit to Goodison Park. But the summer signing from Inter was able to train as normal on Friday in a significant boost for Erik ten Hag, who will also welcome Shaw back into the fold after three months on the treatment table. Shaw's return is a huge boost for a United squad depleted by injuries to Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, while uncertainty remains over the fitness of Hojlund, who picked up a hamstring problem in the 1-0 win over Luton Town prior to the international break. "Andre is okay," Ten Hag told the media at his pre-match press conference. "He stepped in training today, he's good. Rasmus: still is a close finish. He...

When Arsenal hope Martin Odegaard will be back from injury

Image
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is on course to return to action for the Gunners later this month after the November international break. Odegaard hasn't started a Game since Arsenal’s Champions League away win over Sevilla last month. He sat out the Premier League thrashing of Sheffield United with what was later reported to be a hip problem, but returned as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham. However, the 24-year-old then missed subsequent Game s against Newcastle, Sevilla and Burnley. At least the latter two absences are thought to be as a result of an unspecified training injury . There is no long-term concern, though, with manager Mikel Arteta expectant that Odegaard will be ready to play again before the end of November when Arsenal face Brentford and Lens. Chelsea star suffers injury setback in attempt to return to training

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Chelsea right-back Reece James has been sent for further scans on his hamstring injury after pulling up in his attempted return to training . James has been out of action since April but was never officially ruled out for the rest of the season, and the defender was back in training earlier this week ahead of a potential return on the final day against Newcastle. Unfortunately, his training session did not last long as James pulled up with pain in the same hamstring, and he has now been sent back to the treatment room. "He came out [to train] yesterday but went back in, because he had a little bit of awareness [of the injury ]," Lampard told the Evening Standard . "We hope the scan will show there's no real damage." James also confirmed the news, vowing to be back in time to write a different story next season. Arsenal handed huge injury blow ahead of crunch Man City clash

Arsenal will be without centre-back William Saliba for Wednesday's huge Premier League clash with title rivals Manchester City. The 22-year-old is dealing with a back injury that has kept him out of Arsenal's last five Premier League games, with the Gunners still waiting for their first clean sheet in his absence. Just how severe Saliba's back issue is has been debated. Manager Mikel Arteta has previously confessed that things are not progressing as quickly as the club had expected, but there were still slim hopes that Saliba could be back in time for Wednesday's likely title-decider. But The Athletic report that Saliba will not be back in time for that game and there are even fears that the Frenchman's season may in fact be over. Recent assessments of Saliba's back have not shown the sort of progress doctors were expecting and he is expected to also miss the meeting with Chelsea on May 2. Kevin Durant injury update: Suns star to return from sprained ankle on Wednesday vs. Timberwolves

Kevin Durant will make his return to action Wednesday when the Phoenix Suns host the Minnesota Timberwolves, CBS Sports' Bill Reiter confirmed. Durant suffered a sprained ankle during warmups ahead of a game against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and has been out recovering from that injury ever since. He missed almost two months earlier in the season while recovering from an MCL sprain. Durant has played only three games for the Suns since being traded from the Brooklyn Nets in February. If he plays in all seven of Phoenix's final games starting with that Wednesday tilt with the Timberwolves, that will boost his Suns total to 10 games.  This creates the potential for a bit of History . No NBA champion has ever been led by a player who gave them more playoff Game s than regular-season appearances. Even if Phoenix swept through all four rounds of the playoffs, they'd have to play a minimum...

LeBron James injury update: Lakers star has tendon issue in right foot, will be reevaluated in three weeks

LeBron James is expected to be reevaluated in three weeks after the team announced that he has a tendon injury in his right foot. It was previously reported that James will not require surgery on the injured foot, per Turner Sports ' Chris Haynes. James' return could depend on where the Los Angeles Lakers are in the standings after the three-week checkpoint, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.  The 38-year-old superstar hurt his foot during the third quarter of Sunday's win against the Dallas Mavericks, but stayed in the game and finished with 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists. James helped the Lakers erase a 27-point deficit and earn their biggest come-from-behind victory in 21 years, but, shortly thereafter, the good vibes disappeared. This is not a team that can afford to be without James for an extended period of time. With James out of the lineup, Los Angeles lost 121-109 against the ...

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been ruled out indefinitely after suffering partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane, as well as a lower leg contusion, the team announced on Sunday. An official timeline will be announced at a later date, but per Shams Charania, the injuries are expected to keep him out for multiple weeks.  Curry suffered the injury on Saturday night during the Warriors' 119-113 win over the Dallas Mavericks, who were playing without Luka Doncic. During the third quarter, Curry was trying to defend a drive by Mavericks guard McKinley Wright IV, when the two appeared to knock knees. Luka Doncic injury update: Mavericks star questionable vs. Pistons on Monday due to sprained ankle

Recently-named All-Star starter Luka Doncic has been upgraded to questionable for the Dallas Mavericks' matchup with the Detroit Pistons on Monday, the team announced on Sunday. Doncic suffered a sprained ankle during the first quarter of the Mavericks' win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, and missed the team's loss to the Utah Jazz on Saturday.  With just under nine minutes to play versus the Suns, Doncic tried to drive to the basket but was cut off by Cameron Johnson and had to spin back the other way. As he did so, he stepped right on Mikal Bridges' foot and awkwardly rolled his left ankle . He immediately winced in pain and hobbled back down the floor. After Torrey Craig hit a 3-pointer, the Mavericks called a timeout to get Doncic out of the Game .  Luka went back to the locker room with an apparent ankle injury . pic.twitter.com/zHz5XBVawO — Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) ...
