Red Sox Betting Preview
Boston moved to 48-43 after sweeping Oakland. The Red Sox opened July by winning seven of their first eight Games, and they’ll look to keep things going this weekend at Wrigley. The Boston offense is 4.18 scoring runs per Game, while batting .258, with a .340 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.89 ERA, with a 1.34 WHIP. Masataka Yoshida closed the first half of the season in terrific form, and after collecting multiple hits in seven straight Games, he leads Boston in batting (.316), with 44 RBI. Rafael Devers has produced a run in three of the last four Games, and he’s first on the team in HR (20) and RBI (70). Justin Turner has recorded a base knock in nine straight Games, and he leads the Sox in hits (95), with splits of .288/13/52.
Brayan Bello (6-5, 3.04 ERA, 70 Ks) will take the bump for Boston. The sophomore righty pitched well heading into the All-Star break, winning three of his last four decisions. Bello has delivered six straight quality starts, while allowing two runs or less in eleven of his last twelve outings. This will mark Bello’s second trip to the Windy City this season, as he held the White Sox to one run over 6.2 innings of work in the Southside back at the end of June.

Cubs Betting Preview
Chicago comes in at 42-47 after taking two of three from New York. The Cubs held their own in the Bronx prior to the break by defeating the Yankees last weekend, and they’ll look for more success against the AL East here. The Chicago offense is scoring 4.12 runs per Game, while batting .243, with a .323 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.18 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Nico Hoerner plated runs in two of three Games against the Yanks, and he leads the Cubs in batting (.271), hits (93), and RBI (45). Christopher Morel leads Chicago in home runs (15), with 38 RBI.
Kyle Hendricks (3-3, 3.04 ERA, 32 Ks) will take the bump for Chicago. The longtime Cubs struggled in his last time out against the Yankees, allowing four runs in 5.2 innings pitched, but he managed to avoid the loss due to solid run support. Hendricks delivered three straight quality starts prior to the tough outing, so there’s a chance he performs better at home here. Hendricks is 2-0 through three appearances at Wrigley Firld this season.
Boston vs Chicago Trends
Boston is 41-46 against the spread this season, with a 43-40-4 O/U record. Chicago is 51-36 ATS this year, with a 40-43-5 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Boston caught fire prior to the All-Star break, and I like their chances of coming out strong here in the Windy City. The Red Sox were producing at will behind the plate, and if they're able to pick up where they left off, I really like them to take Game one. A solid outing from Brayan Bello and some production for their bats should be all the Sox need here to down the Cubs. Back Boston for Game one of this interleague series.
